An Incredible Community that Cares

I have tears streaming from my eyes...tears of sadness for a mother who passed after childbirth and tears of joy for a babe who has many "mothers" now in the community, breastfeeding and loving him.

Here is an article about the Goodrich Family and the community of nursing mothers:

Here is a link to a project created by Ina May Gaskin...a project to honor all mothers who have died from childbirth. It's called the "Safe Motherhood Quilt Project"

Here also, is a link to a blog post for Susan's quilt square:

thank you so much for your sweet comment. from such a tragedy comes incredible kindness; i hope the rest of the country pays attention to the way your community has united to help sweet moses. the story will be in people magazine, this week, i believe.

as for the quilt project, i am honored to be a part of it; ina may gaskin is a true hero and has a vision that i believe can really help people understand that maternal mortality in america has been swept under the rug for way too long.
